Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Because I believe there is no testimony without a test and no message without a mess, I have sought the Lord to ask Him if it would be appropriate for me to reveal my testimony to the world. His answer to me was "How does it make you feel when you hear the testimony of others who have been in similar circumstances"? I replied, 'I am encouraged to know that there are those who have been where I have been, and that there is a way out, through Christ'.
I pray this testimony will be of encouragement to you and your loved ones who may have been in a similar circumstance.
Reverend Bobby Twine Jr
Before you continue I encourage you to read Luke 15:11-32
If I had to place a title to this testimony it would be "I was lost but now I'm found".
Growing up I was lonely, introverted, shy and never fit in with the crowd. I wore heavy thick glasses from the age of seven and looked like a nurd! I found a "friend" whom I could hang out with. We had the same general likes and interest. Then, he seemed to find our friendship less fulfilling as it once was and I became curious as to the reason why. The explanation was very profound. My curiosity and the need to rekindle our friendship led me to the experience of crack cocaine. I became addicted from the very first hit. Then I sold crack to keep crack.
One day when I was staying at the hotel-motel holiday inn, there was a knock at my door. I peeped around the curtain and there was an officer standing outside the door with a vicious-looking German shepherd. I opened the door and the officer said, "Are you Bobby Twine"? I said, "Yes I am". He said, "Mr. Twine I have a warrant for your arrest." I said, "For what"? He said, "I don't know Mr. Twine but I'm sure that they can clear that up at the police station. Just come with me calmly and you can find out the details then.
I had been smoking crack for ten years. To make a long story short, I was tried and convicted of the felonious distribution of crack cocaine. I was sentenced to 10yrs. in the state penitentiary serving 85% of the time with no parole.
When I came to myself while sitting in jail; I began to read my Bible. For hours I would read everyday. There was not much else to do! I began to attend every Christian church service that was held in the jail. In the midst of my reading and jail ministries and Bible study courses I looked out my cell window to a beautiful blue sky. There was something different about that day!
There was one cloud in the sky and it had a most distinctive shape, the shape of a hand, extended across miles and miles of sky, stretching out toward me--beckoning, calling, drawing me. Meditating on that point in time, I realize that it was a divine manifestation of the Lord reaching out to me. My very own--epiphany--theophany--my very own Christophany. The Spirit of the living God revealed Himself to me in a cloud one day to show me the way. The hand of God beckoning, calling, drawing me to surrender my life to Him.
When I came to myself;
I cried out to the Lord. My emotions begin to stir-up within me. Rivers of water begin to stream down from my eyes. I cried out with my whole heart. Help me, Lord. I need your help, right now. I am afflicted, distressed, and I'm downright oppressed. My life is in such a mess.
When I came to my senses;
I said, Lord, consider my affliction and deliver me. Plead my cause and redeem me!
Dear Lord, I need You. I need You to come into my life. Lead me, guide me, show me Your way. Take control of my life, I just can't get it right myself!
Teach me how to live right, walk right, and talk right. Here I am, take control of the throne of my life. I'm giving it all to you right now. I surrender it all to you right now. Make me the kind of person that You want me to be.
I'm so glad that God still hears a sinner's prayer!
"Forgive me Lord of that sinful state when I ran and fled from You. When I was far off from You and took up residence in the world. Forgive me Lord of that sinful state when I wasted my substance with riotous living. When I thought I was all that and a bag of chips! Wineing, and dining, freaking and geeking, smoking and choking, lusting and wasting all that I had."
"Forgive me Lord for that sinful wanting state. Wanting this and wanting that, I wanted everything but You. Serving the devil when I should have been serving You. Serving my flesh when I should have been serving You."
"Forgive me Lord--for being in that state, smoking crack 24-7, never satisfied, wanting to get higher and higher. Looking for love in all the wrong places."
I was dead--this son was dead! I was lost-this Your son was lost!
Ohhh, when I came to myself!
Ohhh, when I came to my senses!
God said to me, "This son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found."
Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me;
I once, was lost, but now I'm found was blind, but now I see.
Jesus said in Luke 19:9-10
"Today salvation has come to this house...for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."
When I came to my senses:
When the eyes of my heart began to focus, when my inner eyes began to regain their sight and my inner ear had a desire to hear that what sayeth the Lord, I said, "How can I cleanse my ways?"
The Spirit of the Lord said to me, "When you cried out to Me, though your sins are like scarlet, they are now as white as snow; though your sins are like crimson, they are now as wool.
Your iniquity is taken away and your sin is purged, your sin is covered."
I began to hear the Word, receive the Word, love the Word, and obey the Word. I began to lean on the Word, rely on the Word, trust in His Word, and delight in His Word.
I began to stand in awe of His Word, incline my heart to perform His Word, I began to hope in His Word, conform to His Word, and I began to wait on His Word.
I began to live in His Word, walk in His Word, and pray His Word.
I said Jesus;
Deliver me according to Your Word, direct my steps by Your Word, let me not wander from Your Word, and open my eyes that I may see wondrous things from Your Word.
Strengthen me Lord according to Your Word. It's good for me that I have been afflicted that I may learn Your Word. Redeem me from the oppression of men that I may keep Your Word.
Teach me and redeem me according to Your Word. Deliver me; revive me because I love Your Word. I delight myself in Your Word.
I will not forget Your Word!
I will obey, love, eat, keep, walk, hear, and receive Your Word.
I will preach and teach Your Word as long as I live!
Give Him Glory!
